Marquee at Killyleagh Castle
What we did
Behold a glorious, richly dressed marquee to celebrate the life and times of Sir Hans Sloane and in particular his introduction of chocolate to the British Isles. Our brief was to decorate a huge 20m x 40m blank white marquee, supplied by www.northdownmarquees.co.uk which would be dressed to impress for a fundraising Ball for 400 people and thereafter, for a weekend of community events to celebrate The Chocolate Festival.
We draped the walls with rich black velvet and gold lame rope detail and suspended 4 large Baroque style fairylit chandeliers along the central ridge of the ceiling. The tables were positioned either side of the marquee to create an avenue leading to a chequer-board dancefloor and dressed with dramatic 5ft tall gold trees and chocolate drops as centre-pieces. Where the ceiling drapes hung lower, pairs of beautiful antique gold cherub candlesticks were placed on mirror circles. To emphasize the antique theme, we brought in groups of tall palm trees and ferns in vintage pots. The whole effect was gloriously rich and our work was enhanced with professional stage lighting and perfect sound by www.loftsound.co.uk
