Rowallane Gardens, Co. Down
What we did
Working with Jonny; the happy-go-lucky, loveable groom and BBC3 Don't Tell The Bride team was great fun and unforgettable! If you have watched the show you will know that the groom is given £12,000 to arrange every detail of his wedding, including the cake and wedding dress for his bride.
In Jonny's case, Ayca, his very beautiful bride wanted a traditional wedding in a castle or country house so Jonny chose tipi tents in a garden! Bluemoon proposed Rowallane Gardens as the venue for two Magnakata tipis and the outdoor wedding ceremony because The National Trust are licensed to hold civil and marriage ceremonies.
Needless-to-say Jonny's budget was blown when it came to decorations and flowers but with all hands on deck and a simple scheme involving a lot of locally foraged ivy and our silk wisteria blossom, we decorated the tipi poles and walls with fairylights. The tables were dressed with simple white linen and glass hurricane lamps with church candles and ivy garlands. As Ayca is half Turkish we hung a traditional evil eye amulet above the top table to bring the couple good luck. Not that they'll need it, they are madly in love!
