Larchfield Estate, Co. Down
What we did
An unforgettable night, our brief was to transform the barn and marquee at Larchfield Estate into a Rocky Mountain ski chalet for Coors Lite.
The marquee was transformed! A great icicle frieze hung from the top of the walls, the existing carpet was covered with artificial snow blanket and Flossie, our life-size white stag was strategically placed among fir trees dusted with 'fresh' powdery snow. We created the signs from cut slices of felled tree and brought in genuine Nordic tables, benches, reindeer skins and oil lamps. Guests could even park their skis in our home-made rack!
In the bar, we created poseur tables out of wooden whiskey barrels and draped the sofas and chairs with more reindeer skins and fur cushions. Leading into the 'restaurant', more Nordic tables and benches were lined up with oil lamps and for cosy ambience we created an open log fire with silk flames and an old pine fire surround and constructed a huge log pile wall reminiscent of a traditional wooden chalet. The walls were decked with deer antlers, cow hides and old snow shoes and clusters of frosted, twiggy snowflakes were hung from the ceiling rafters.
The party was a roaring success; totally authentic and gone, like the snow by lunchtime the following day.
