What we did
We worked with wedding planner Samantha of Hidden Secret Wedding to bring a taste of Africa to Annahilt for the young South African bride and her local love from Lisburn! It was such a fun wedding to work on and right away we managed to find zebra printed tablecloths and matching sashes for the chairs. Also lurking in our personal collection was a pair of genuine Zulu spears and some carved rhino statues. With no tribal masks available we decided to paint one! The oak facade of the bar was temporarily covered with coir matting and a central motif of palms, and topped off with a mosquito net to imitate an African hut.
We sourced two zebra printed cow hides for the barn walls and flew them in specially from Argentina. Luckily we found coconut shells closer to home and long curled husks of bark to act as bowls for Biltong nibbles served up to the guests reclining on our black sofas with wild animal print cushions. Finally as night fell and the African Hut cupcakes had been devoured, our bride and groom treated their guests to an amazing night of cocktails served up by our friends at San Greal. It was a wild night!
